Air freshner oils

I don't like chemical based air freshners but I do like having a house which smells nice. I open the windows each day although they are only open for a wee while on cold winter days. I've just started making simple air freshners using essential oils and water. I use small spray bottles which you can get from chemists such as boots. They are designed for travelling but they make great air freshner bottles as they are the perfect size. Here's the blend I use in the bedroom. I'm not keen on flowery scents so this one is quite a woody scent. 100 ml spring water (i just use the water from my filter jug) 8 drops ylang ylang oil 8 drops sandalwood oil 2 drops clary sage Put the lid on the spray bottle and give it a good shake. Also shake it just before you spray it. Ylang ylang is a sensual oil so its great for a bedroom. It's also one of the oils I use in my massage blends. Clary sage relaxes me and helps me sleep. The sandalwood adds a bit of balance and stops the ylang ylang being to overpowering. If you try this blend leave a comment and let me know what you think of it.

Cleansing

What a day its been.  Hardly stopped all day and very tired now.  Long lie tomorrow for me.

Really looking forward to Samhain (Halloween) as I am planning a cleansing ritual.  Samhain is like the Pagan version of new year.  Its been a roller-coaster of a year since October 2011 and a lot of negative things have been happening so a good cleansing is required to go forward with positivity into the new year.  I will need to look through my books for a cleansing incense recipe that I like which I can burn on the altar.

I decorated a book earlier this year which I will be using to record recipes for incense blends, herbal remedies and soaps.  I'll share any really good recipes here once I have tried them.  The book was just a normal A4 hardback notebook.  I covered it with some fabric I had in my fabric stash and I plan to add some decoration along with the notes.  I'm not a great drawer so I'll decorate it using rubber stamps.  I have got some great rubber stamps such as this fairy which you can find here http://www.dimensionstamps.com/index1.html

I would love to be a good artist as I'm a very creative person and it would come in very handy when it comes to making original cards.  In the past I've attempted to learn to draw by using self learn books.  I'm sure if I practiced or took an evening class my skills would improve but for now I think I have enough hobbies on the go - knitting, sewing, crochet, card making, family tree research, baking and gardening are just a few.

Hello

Last week a friend introduced me to two fantastic blogs which got me thinking maybe I should start my own blog again.  I used to have one years ago on LiveJournal so not really a proper blog more just an outlet for rants and keeping in touch with friends (it seems the days of picking up the phone for a blether are long gone and I've fallen into that trap as well).  I have no idea what I'll post here.  I enjoy baking so maybe I'll share some recipes.  I'm also a green witch so expect some info about herbs and witchcraft.  We'll just have to see where this goes :)  I will warn you that my grammar is appalling but since I'm not writing a novel then who cares.  My blog name comes from a website run by a lady I got chatting too on the internet about 15 years ago.  She was an older lady who was very spiritual and despite the fact I only knew her online and not in real life she had quite an influence on me.  Unfortunately she moved country and had limited internet access at that time so we lost touch.

Anyway welcome to my blog :)
